Abstract

This event will be based on research by the low level of community participation in the polling on the election of the Mayor of Padang from the year 2008 up to the year 2018.This research aims to clarify the significance of socio-economic status of relations to the level of political participation of the community in the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Padang the year 2018.The methods used in this research is quantitative correlation with the technique of method of sampling using multi stage random sampling technique.The results of this research show that socioeconomic status where the level of education and income a person there is no relationship with the level of political participation of the community in the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Padang the year 2018.While this type of work have a relationship with the level of political participation of the community in the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Padang the year 2018.The conclusions of this research shows that there is no relationship between socio-economic status may level the level of political participation of the community in the election of the Mayor of Padang with the ANOVA test analysis results obtained the value of the correlation of 0.255.While the level of education obtained correlation value of 0.609, type of work with a value of 0.025 correlation and correlation of results obtained income level of 0.255.
